Brief
Description:
Present
project proposed to support the National Institute
of Statistics and Forecasting to strengthen
its policy-making role. This is in particularly
in respect of the formulation of improved
population-based data system that enable more
accurate policy analysis and incorporation
of gender sensitive population data in development
planning. The project will assist NISF in
conducting 5% sample survey (mini-census)
and 1-sample surveys (sociological research)
within 2000-2001 to receive high-quality data
on population and reproductive health. Within
this component project the Turkmenistan DHS
will be implemented by the Government with
consultation of Macro International Inc.

Addressed:
- Need
in supporting of mini-census conducting.

in organizing and carrying out Demographic
and Health Survey (DHS).
- Lack
of knowledge and experience of NISF specialists.
- Need
in improving data collection analysis
of basic RH indicators and other demographic
indicators.

Outcomes:
- Support
of mini-census.
- Training
of specialists from NISF in survey methodology,
sampling, statistical and demographic
analysis and use of computer software
packages.
- Provision
of computer hardware and software support
to NISF at national and velayat levels,
including technical assistance for data
processing, analysis and preparation of
reports.
- Review
the relevant data of statistical account
on demography and RH to estimate shortage
of information and prepare database according
to the above review.
- Organize
and conduct sampling survey.
- Conduct
and organize Demographic and Health Survey.
