UN Secretary-General and UNDP Administrator Thank Turkmenistan for Humanitarian Aid to Haiti 29 March 2010 – President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received messages from United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and UNDP Administrator, Chair of the United Nations Development Group, Helen Clark, expressing sincere gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan for the kind donation of the Government of Turkmenistan as well as Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov’s personal message of sympathy and support to the victims of the recent earthquake in Haiti.
The messages said this friendly gesture reflects the true spirit of the United Nations.
“The donation has become a great contribution to the recovery efforts in Haiti and an example of the growing role and capacity of a wide range of countries to international development efforts,” Helen Clark noted.
