United Nations staff in Turkmenistan support World Environment Day campaignAshgabat, 17 June 2010 – UN staff in Turkmenistan participated in a voluntary cleaning of the park located in front of the UN House in Ashgabat to observe the World Environment Day on 5 June. This initiative brought together staff and management of different United Nations agencies resident in Turkmenistan, including UNDP, UNFPA, UNICEF, UNODC, UNHCR, WHO and staff of the United Nations Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy (UNRCCA).

This event celebrating the World Environment Day resulted in collection of more than hundred bags of garbage and town refuse in the territory of the park. The collected garbage and town refuse was loaded and transported to a municipal waste collection site.
