UNDP InfoTuk Project Produces CD Carrying Interactive Multimedia Programme for Self-Learning of IT

UNDP InfoTuk Project Produces CD Carrying Interactive Multimedia Programme for Self-Learning of IT Ashgabat, 9 January 2009 - UNDP Project “Information Sharing in Turkmenistan for Sustainable Human Development (InfoTuk)” has produced a CD carrying an interactive multimedia programme for self-learning of information technologies.

This programme software is designed to train general public in computer literacy. The educational CD, which is prepared in Turkmen and Russian languages, features eight basic modules for gradual comprehension of information technologies.

The CD is a peculiar training manual with a run of two thousand copies. All educational CDs will be disseminated among secondary schools of Turkmenistan, InfoTuk computer centers as well as a number of ministries and state organizations.

The CD allows for using a programme both in off-line mode, without actual using the CD, and in economy mode by running a programme from the CD. There is also an option which allows for registration of any number of programme users at a given computer. This option helps keep a record of trainings with test results for each individual user.

InfoTuk project is going to organize unlimited dissemination of this programme software free of charge starting from January 2009 with a view to further enhancing computer literacy in Turkmenistan. This measure is expected to expand access to self-learning of information technologies.

The project plays a key role in strengthening the capacity to use information and communication technology (ICT) at the national and local levels as means of increasing access to information and opportunities in education, science and technology in Turkmenistan.
