Overview
The
proposed advocacy project is designed to build on the
successes of earlier support provided by UNFPA assistance
to Turkmenistan in selecting executing agencies.

National experience has been gained in implementing UNFPA
programs and national execution will be followed in the
proposed advocacy subprogram. The country population assessment
and experiences from the previous assistance have identified
the need for strategic advocacy to gain support of national
and local leaders on issues related to improvements in
women's health and social status, status of non-governmental
organizations as equal social partners with the Government,
and for improving the reproductive health services. The
purpose of advocacy project is to contribute to increased
political and community support for population and development
issues and promotion of reproductive health, with gender
concerns adequately mainstreamed. This project will aim
at an increased level support from national and local
leaders for the concepts of reproductive health and reproductive
rights and gender issues. |
