Maternal Health

Reproductive health including Family Planning and Sexual Health - UNFPA supports the provision of reproductive health care including wider choice of family planning methods and information. Reproductive health care services include: safe motherhood; counseling and prevention of infertility; preventing and treating reproductive health tract infections and sexually transmitted diseases including HIV/AIDS; and dealing with the health consequences of unsafe abortion.


Workshop on Reproductive Health of Women in Turkmenistan:
30-31 January, 2001
17 participants: Directors of the Reproductive Health Centers and Head Specialists from Velayats.

TOT Workshop:
10-17 January, 2001 (Ashgabat, MCH Institute)

Trainers of the TOT workshop developed curriculum materials, which was approved by WHO. Trained trainers for teaching family physicians on safe motherhood issues, including. Participants are: Ob/Gyns, Neonathologists from each Velayat and Ashgabat city. Total number of people trained are 21.
TOT Workshop provided by Professor Babil Stray-Pederson, WHO Consultant.
These trained trainers will be potential Master Trainers in providing lectures to other professionals in the other regions of Turkmenistan.
